Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (nacida el 25 de octubre de 1984, Santa Bárbara, California, Estados Unidos), mejor conocida por su nombre artístico de Katy Perry, es una cantante, guitarrista, compositora yactriz estadounidense. Perry creció escuchando y cantando la música góspel, durante su primer año en la secundaria comenzó su carrera musical como Katy Hudson, lanzando su primer álbum de estudio llamadoKaty Hudson (álbum), el cual no obtuvo mucho éxito en las listas musicales de los Estados Unidos. Más tarde, grabó un álbum en solitario que nunca fue estrenado. En 2007, firmó con Capitol Records, siendo así su cuarto sello discográfico en siete años de carrera, adoptando el nombre artístico de Katy Perry.

Perry obtuvo fama mundial con el lanzamiento de su segundo álbum, One of the Boys en 2008, que dio lugar a tres canciones entre el Top 10 de Billboard Hot 100, «I Kissed A Girl», «Hot N' Cold» y «Waking Up In Vegas». Perry promocionó el álbum con su primera gira llamada Hello Katy Tour.
